Surveillance System Notes
These notes
are for a 6 Channel System, details are also in general applicable to
GoVideo- 1 / 2 / 4 Systems.
GoVideo-1/2/4
Capture Resolution: 384 x 288 PAL (Australian) TV System, 320 x 240 NTSC TV
System.
GoVideo-1
VERSION 4.1 only!
Capture Resolution up to 768 x 576 PAL - 640 x 480 NTSC.
Main Panel

GoVideo-4 displays up to 4 windows.
GoVideo-2
displays up to 2 windows.
GoVideo-1
displays 1 window.
Add/Remove Camera
There are individual windows for each channel, you can press the "x" icon to remove a Camera Window if a camera is not actually connected. The drop down “Camera” menu is used to Re-Add a Camera Window.
Hide Camera
You
can use the "-" icon to hide the camera, it is still functional but
will not be displayed.

Storage/Time left display
Display
the currently available free disk space for recording video clips. The time
estimation is based on the image quality, frame rate.
Lock Camera (Zoom in/Zoom out)

You can select and Zoom in or Zoom out on any
camera, just press the “lock” icon between "-" and "x" or
press the function key F1 to F4, F1 selects camera 1. You can press the tool
bar icon to zoom in or zoom out, or use the numeric keypad "-",
"+". You can press the ESC key to return to the default display
status.
Scan Camera
When
the lock function is active, you may enable the scan function by press the
"*" key in the numeric keypad or press the icon, you can also select
Scan Lock from the drop down “Camera” menu . Scan will
automatically switch each existing camera every 3 seconds.
Start Monitor
You
can start all the cameras or any one to observe and record. You can select from
the drop down “Monitor” menu, icon or mouse right
button to start any one of the installed cameras. If you have a predefined
schedule, you can use Schedule Start to apply your schedule. Only Schedule
Start will reference the schedule.
Stop Monitor
You
can stop observe and recording of all cameras or any one. You can select from
the drop down “Monitor” menu, tool bar icon or mouse
right button to start any one of the installed cameras.

Sensitivity

Slide
bar for selecting motion detection sensitivity, range is 1 ~ 99, the higher the
value the more sensitive the detection.

Record Setting

[Image Quality]
High,
Medium and Low options for selecting the quality of image saved in file. High
option will give better image quality but create more video data and increase
storage requirements.
[Frame Rate]
ASAP or User Define.
Video
capture speed of PC, maximum frame rate depends on PC hardware. In general, the
higher the frames-per-second the smoother the motion, the trade-off is a higher
volume of data acquired and a higher storage requirement. Frame rate is related
to processing power of CPU, frame size and color setting on PC.
[Frame Rate Test]
GoVideo-1/2/4
Surveillance System will test all the conditions and determine the maximum
possible frame rate.

Preference

[Video Format]
Choosing
Video Format will invoke a video format dialog box, this is dependent on the
capture device driver.
[Video Source]
Most capture device drivers will provide a video source dialog
box. Within this box, the user can choose the signal format (NTSC, PAL, etc.)
and adjust the image characteristics (brightness, contrast, hue, etc).
Settings
for Australian TV System are: PAL-B,D,G,H,I
[Capture Driver]
With GoVideo Bt878 based Capture Cards select MSVideo:BT848/878
capture card.
[Mask Visible]
Select
disable to not display the masked areas in each camera window
[Start Monitor After]
This
is the time delay after starting Motion Detection Recording before observation
begins.
[Password]
You may set a password to prevent someone else terminating program
or changing settings. This password is also applied to the remote login.
[Alarm]
Once you have chosen a sound file, when image changes are detected, the
System will play the WAV file and also start to record video.
[File Location]
Log file path to store video data, click Set Location to
Add/Delete file path.
[Recycle option]
Once
running out of disk space (less than 200MB), system will delete the data of
earliest date.
[Schedule]

You
may define two kinds of schedule, Periodical or Special, the Periodical
schedule can be applied to weekdays.
Special
Schedule can be applied to holiday or other special times.


[Pager/Tel Hot Line Setting]

This function is like a phone book. You can predefine up to 6
different telephone/pager numbers to be associated with Function keys F7 to
F12. Once you want to call out for emergency purpose, you can press the
function key directly. The system will keep recording until you press the Pause
key to stop.
eg:
you may set the pager number to 0948001001 with a pager message #999#. You will
need to know how to set the pager message, with # or other character and etc.
Drop down (Mask) menu
The
Mask feature allows areas in each image to be masked, multiple areas to be
disregarded by Motion Detection function may be defined anywhere on image. For
example, you may wish to observe your office but not the moving traffic visible
through the office window, you can mask the office window so moving traffic
will not trigger recording. When motion or image changes occur outside of the
masked areas images are recorded.

View Log
You
can press the Shift-F1 to Shift-F4 to view the log file, you can also press the
F1 to F4 to switch between each camera video data base.

Icon from left to
right represent the event not view yet, has viewed, file not found.
When
the frame is still, you may apply the following image process tools:
Brightness control.
Contrast control.
This special effect
allows you to increase the difference between light and dark areas of the
image, which has the effect of sharpening or improving the focus in some
images.
This special effect
allows you to decrease the difference between light and dark areas of the
image, which has the effect of smoothing or defocusing the viewed image.
Grayscale.
The Undo allows you
to undo the last operation performed while editing or altering a viewed image.
Copy the image and
other applications paste it.
Print image, you can
set the different date/time layout by selecting the [file] manual [Page Setup]
function.

To use Communication System
There
are the following major functions in the communication system
1.
Remote view by modem.
2.
Remote view through IPX protocol (LAN, Intranet). Peer-to-peer connection.
3.
Remote view through TCP/IP protocol (Internet/Intranet)
Enable camera remote view
capability:
Press
the tool bar icon
in the GoVideo system
site (local). Enable/Disable the remote view option in each camera, if you
disable the “allow remote view option”
in the dialog box, the video data of this camera will not be sent to the remote
site.

Remote View by Modem steps
Step1:
Press
the tool bar icon
in the GoVideo system
site (local). When this icon is selected it allows remote modem login in.
Step2:
Press
the tool bar icon
in the “Remote View”
application running on remote PC, then select the
Dial Modem function
and you will see the following dialog display

Please
input the telephone number you want to dial and press the Make Call button
Step3:
After
several seconds, if connect successfully, you will see the following panel

Step4:
You
may select only one camera (lock any camera) by press F1 to F4 function key or
tool bar icon
. This will increase the transmission speed because only
specified camera data will be transmitted. You can press ESC key to resume.
When in the lock mode, you can press the Zoom-in or Zoom-out function.
Step5:
You
can adjust the image quality, changes the date color or disable the date by
press the Preference Icon![]()

Remote View through IPX
protocol steps
Step0:
Make
sure you have installed the IPX/SPX protocol both in the local (connected to
the video cameras) and remote site.
Step1:
Press
the tool bar icon “Network login”
with “Intranet listen on IPX”
option in the GoVideo system site (local). When this icon is selected it allows
remote IPX to login.
Step2:
Press
the tool bar icon
in “Remote View”
application then select the
Intranet IPX
function, you will see the following dialog display

You
have two ways to connect to the server. You can press the Locate Server button,
this will broadcast a message to the PC where GoVideo is installed. Then press
the Login button.
Or
Please
input the network number, network Node, Socket number and press the Login
button.
Note: In the
step1, after you press the Network login icon, you will see there is one more
icon
in the Windows status
bar. Please move your mouse to the icon then you will see the display,

Remote View through TCP/IP
protocol steps
Step0:
Make
sure you have installed the TCP/IP protocol both in the local (connect to the
video camera) and remote site.
Step1:
Press
the tool bar icon “Network login” with “Internet/Intranet Listen on
TCP/IP” option in the GoVideo system site
(local). When this icon is selected it allows remote TCP/IP to login.
Step2:
Press
the tool bar icon
in the “Remote View”
application then select the
Internet/Intranet TCP/IP function, you will see the following
dialog display

You
have two ways to connect to the server. You can press the Locate Server button,
it will broadcast a message to the PC where GoVideo is installed. Then press
the Login button. Or, Please input the IP address of the GoVideo surveillance
system site (local).
Note
:
1. In the step1, after you press the Network login icon, you
will see there is one icon
in the Windows status
bar. Please move your mouse to the icon then you will see the display,

input the above IP address in the dialog box before press the Login button.
2.
In some Windows 95 system, you have no IP assigned in the PC where you run this
software. You have to input the IP before connect to the video server.
